As its name suggests, the aim of parkour is to trace a route in order to move around, which is why its practitioners are called traceur or traceuse.

The aim of parkour is to learn to overcome the difficulties of life, both physical and mental, and to be more useful in our own lives and in the lives of others. Parkour is not about jumping over walls, nor is it about following a route, but it is a way of life in which the traceur finds a source of calm, achieves a physical and mental balance and discovers a way of relating to the environment.

It is a philosophy that treats the physical as a tool for the development of the whole human being. When we practice parkour we try to carry out as many movements as possible, always trying to improvise and adapt to the environment. In this sense, parkour is a way of life that helps us to get to know the world, to develop our mind and to strengthen our body.

Among its benefits, parkour can be divided into three main groups: physical, mental and emotional advantages.

Índice

Toggle

1.- Physical benefits

2.- Mental advantages

3.- Emotional advantages

1.- Physical benefits

Cardiovascular endurance

Development of body skill and dexterity

Improved physical condition

Balance training

Improved coordination and motor skills

Restore natural human mobility

2.- Mental advantages

Aumento de la inteligencia espacial

Desarrollo del escaneo y la percepción visual

Desarrollo de la memoria operativa

Desarrollo de la atención dividida.

3.- Emotional advantages

Self-improvement

Increased self-confidence

Improved decision-making in dangerous situations

Helps to cope with challenges and fear

Develops planning and anticipation skills

Improves reaction to unexpected situations

Enhances group feeling

Parkour is for anyone who wants to try it, regardless of age, gender, height or physical condition.

It is a fun and entertaining form of physical exercise that does not have any negative side effects.
